A 2002 survey of the Rocky Reach white sturgeon subpopulation led to a population estimate of 50-115 fish. The 2002 assessment indicated that recruitment was sporadic and appears to have been limited to a few specific years. Also potentially contributing to the population are white sturgeon immigrating from upstream reservoirs. Survey results indicated that the number of juvenile white sturgeon in Rocky Reach was greater than the number of juveniles collected in Wanapum and Priest Rapids reservoirs.
